Veteran coach Senen Dueñas passed away yesterday, April 12 due to complications from chest surgery at the De Los Santos Medical Center.
He was 52.
Dueñas served as assistant coach of GlobalPort Batang Pier in the PBA, University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP and Ironcon Builders in the MBL.
He is best remembered as one of the assistant coaches of Pido Jarencio when the UST Tigers bagged the UAAP title in 2006.
He was also a former football player of UST in the 80s.
“The basketball world is instantly a poorer place without him. He will be missed,” said Jarencio.
He is survived by his wife Annalyn de Castro, children Lorcan Nathaniel Dueñas, Nathan Sean Dueñas and Lanse Inigo Dueñas, sisters Dulce Dueñas Carlos, Myrna Dueñas Buencamino and Belcy Dueñas Tualla and mother-in-law Lorna Alvero.
His body lies at Sanctuarium in Araneta Ave., Quezon City.
Interment will be announced later.
His family request pious readers to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.
