Police killed on Sunday night an alleged member of a gun-for-hire group tagged in the murder of a village councilor in Quezon City over the weekend.
Operatives of the Quezon City Police District’s Special Operations Unit and Fairview Police Station gunned down a certain Vivencio Serabia when he allegedly tried to fight it out with them around 6:20 p.m.
Police report showed that the cops were supposed to serve a warrant of arrest against the Vivencio’s brother Marlon for slight physical injury. Police traced their residence in a compound on Ilang-ilang Street at Pinkian 3, Zone 2, Barangay Pasong Tamo.
When they arrived, the siblings suddenly fired shots, prompting police to shoot back. Police said the armed Vivencio covered Marlon who was running to escape.
After the shootout, the operatives confiscated a .22-caliber airgun and a 9-mm pistol still loaded with seven bullets.
Reports said the Serabia siblings were members of the gun-for-hire group allegedly paid to kill Jerson Dazo, a councilman in Barangay Greater Fairview, last Saturday morning.
Dazo, who also worked as a tricycle driver, was shot dead while waiting for passengers in a terminal on Dart St. in Barangay Greater Fairview. (Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola)
