The Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF), headed by Steve Hontiveros, will hold the first Philippine International Open 2017 Tenpin Bowling Championships on May 13 to 28 at the Coronado Lanes in Starmall Edsa Mandaluyong City.
The country’s only governing bowling body is inviting all bowling enthusiasts to join the international tournament sanctioned by the Asian Bowling Federation and World Bowling and sponsored by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Australian bowlers Matt Riley and Sam Cooley, teams from Middle East countries and the Hong Kong national team headed by 2015 World Cup champion Wu Sui Hong will be arriving in Manila to compete with Filipino players, among them, Kenneth Chua and Liza del Rosario.
Bets from Singapore, Indonesia and Guam are also expected.
“The PBF is giving Filipino tenpin bowlers one huge tournament after a long time, offering the biggest prizes in the aim of motivating, challenging and developing their skills, athleticism and discipline and likewise attracting foreign competition,” said PBF vice president Steve Robles.
A total of P3 million worth of prizes is up for grabs. The events are in men’s and women’s open, men’s and women’s graded, men’s and women’s associate, youth boys’ and girls’ open, boys’ and girls’ 16-and-under, and men’s and women’s senior divisions.
