BUTUAN CITY – A small-time miner was abducted by alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels Saturday in Agusan del Sur.
Capt. Jasper T. Gacayan, 401st Brigade Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer said victim Carzon Ceasar C. Lademora was snatched from his mining tunnel that was ransacked by the rebels who are said to be from the guerilla-Front Committee 14 of the CPP-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee led by certain ”Monic”.
A report reaching the 401st brigade reveal that the NPAs have already demanded ransom money for the release of the victim who is said to be suffering from hypertension.
The incident has raised alarm among miners in and out of the town where Lademora was abducted as it would affect the already booming economy in their area.
The Army’s Northeastern and Northern Mindanao 4th Infantry (Diamond) (4th ID) and Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) have already started hot pursuit against the kidnappers and to safely recover the victim.
Meantime, three NPA insurgents were killed while a soldier died in separate clashes.
In Davao, the 10th Infantry Division said two rebels were killed, one of them was identified as Jojo Dagahoya who perished during a clash between the NPA and authorities in Barangay Sumimao, Calinan District.
Another group of soldiers engaged the fleeing NPA band at around 1 a.m. on May 10 at Barangay Dalagdag which resulted to one soldier killed and nine others hurt.
The dead body was identified as Eliazar Templado alias Chin, a political instructor of PBC1 from Calinan Proper, Davao City.
One soldier was killed in action while nine others were wounded and already evacuated to hospitals in Davao City in the May 10 armed clash between troops of 3rd Infantry Battalion and NPA rebels.
In Isabela, government forces clashed with the rebels that led to the death of an unidentified NPA in the outskirt Sitio Ibong, Barangay Balbalasang, Balbalan, Kalinga province on Saturday afternoon. (MIKE U. CRISMUNDO)
