An Abu Sayyaf terrorist was killed while two others were captured in two separate operations in Sulu and Basilan.
Trroops from the 61st/65th Marine Company, Marine Special Operation Group and the 2nd Special Forces Battalion, were on combat operation when it engaged in an armed confrontation Abu Sayyaf remnants under the late sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya on Bangalaw Island, Banguingui, Sulu, at 2 a.m. Friday.
The exchange of gunfire resulted in the neutralization of an Abu Sayyaf member identified as a certain Imbo.
Meanwhile, two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members under sub-leader Nurhassan Jamiri surrendered to the troops of Joint Task Force Basilan under Col Juvymax Uy on Thursday.
The father and son tandem of Janatin Mudjaral Madjakin, alias Atin, 44, and Aldasid Madjakin, alias Alda, 19, surrendered in Lamitan City, Basilan. (Francis T. Wakefield)
