ILOILO CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Dumangas town, Iloilo province is set to file a case against the suspect who killed an off-duty cop last weekend.
Chief Inspector Rene Obregon Jr. of Dumangas PNP said 41-year-old suspect Rolly Lete may face murder charges.
Witnesses identified Lete as the one shot and killed Senior Police Officer 1 Sherwin Arondain.
Obregon said the victim and the suspect both hailed from Barotac Nuevo town and both were in Dumangas town attending a fiesta.
The 42-year-old off duty cop got off his motorcycle and stood while talking to two men.
Another man, who was later identified as Lete, walked towards the cop and shot the cop with his gun.
Obregon told Manila Bulletin that there’s a strong possibility the cop knew the suspect, but they are still finding the motive for the killing. (Tara Yap)
