As usual, Fil-Am Treat Huey will banner the Philippine tennis team to the Kuala Lumpur Games this August.
Huey is hoping to use vast experience to help end the country’s gold medal drought in the biennial sports extravaganza.
Apart from Huey, other members of the PH men’s team are Ruben Gonzales, Francis Casey Alcantara, and Jeson Patrombon – all Davis Cup veterans.
Alcantara is the hottest player in the men’s team having won three straight doubles titles Futures tournaments in Singapore recently.
They are hoping to better their one silver and three bronze medals show during the Singapore Games two years ago.
The women’s team, meanwhile, will be composed of Fil-German Katharina Lehnert, Denise Dy, Khim Iglupas and Clarice Patrimonio – the same squad that also bagged two silvers and one bronze medal in their division.
The PH team seeks to eclipse its overall haul of three silvers and four bronzes as players have been busy competing in tournaments abroad.
Huey, in particular, is coming off a second-round finish in doubles at the French Open, while Alcantara boasts of three straight doubles titles in three Futures tournaments in Singapore recently.
