A teenager was killed in a shootout with policemen who caught him driving a motorcycle he had just snatched from a man in Ermita, Manila, Monday night.
PO2 Jonathan Ruiz of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section identified the slain suspect as John Estrella, resident of Ermita.
Investigation showed that at about 9:30 p.m., a man reported to the police that the suspect held him up and took his Yamaha Mio motorcycle in Barangay 660 Zone 71.
Members of Lawton Police Community Precinct conducted a dragnet operation and later spotted Estrella who matched the descriptions of the holdup suspect.
The suspect, upon seeing the cops, sped off to MacArthur bridge but was later cornered at Muelle del Rio.
Estrella reportedly did not cooperate and instead pulled out a .38-caliber revolver, prompting policemen to shoot him.
Police recovered from the slain suspect the wallet and motorcycle he stole from the victim.
His body was brought to Archangel Funeral for autopsy and safekeeping.
