Walang nakikitang problema ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) kung mauusog ang Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections sa May 2018.
“This proposal of May 2018, we are okay with it since we have one year (interval),” pahayag ni Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista sa isang press conference.
Nauna nang nag-decide ang House of Representatives na ilipat ang Barangay at SK elections sa May 2018 sa halip na isagawa ito sa darating na October.
Gayun pa man, muling sinabi ni Bautista na nanatili silang “neutral” sa issue kung ipagpapaliban o hindi ang October polls.
“We have always been neutral. Our only appeal is for them not to make it too close to the next elections,” sabi ni Bautista.
“It should have an interval of at least one year,” dagdag niya.
