The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed yesterday the arrest of six Malaysians and two Filipinos by the Royal Malaysian Police in Taman Desa Baiduri, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, on August 30, 2017.
AFP Public Affairs Office chief Marine Colonel Edgard Arevalo, said military sources revealed that the group was collared for their alleged involvement in and linkages to terrorist activities in that country.
Arevalo said one of the arrested Filipinos was identified as Hajar Abdul Mubin alias Mheraiz.
Investigation revealed that Mubin is the right-hand man of Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader Furuji Indama who is based in Basilan.
“The affiliation of the other Filipino, Abraham Bin Ebong, is still being ascertained,” Arevalo said.
“The group is under custody at an undisclosed detention facility in the capital currently for committing security offenses and is now facing charges for violating Malaysian statues,” he added. (Francis T. Wakefield)
