Almost the whole country will experience rains today due to a low pressure area east of Mindanao, State weather forecasters said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of the LPA at 245 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur yesterday morning.
Weather forecaster Samuel Duran said the advanced clouds of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Aurora, Visayas, and Mindanao.
PAGASA warned of possible lightning, moderate to occasional heavy rains, strong winds, and flash floods in these areas.
Duran said the LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone as yesterday.
However, the weather disturbance is seen to cross Visayas and will become a tropical cyclone once over the West Philippine Sea.
Should it intensify into a tropical cyclone inside the country’s area of responsibility, it will be given a local name of “Odette.”
Four tropical cyclones have developed inside the country’s vicinity this month – “Kiko,” “Lannie,” “Maring,” and “Nando.”
Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms with possible occasional lightning, strong winds, and heavy rains.
