Star Hotshots guard Paul Lee yesterday underwent surgery on his troublesome left knee to repair a lateral meniscus tear at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
The former Rookie of the Year hurt his knee early in Game 2 last Tuesday of the team’s semifinals series against Meralco in the PBA Governors’ Cup in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Renowned sports physician Dr. Raul Canlas performed the surgery. Lee has been given six weeks to recover.
“Ang talagang problem pa from way back is may lateral meniscus tear na,” said Star’s Physical Therapist Nick Ocampo.
“We’ve been holding back for him to have a surgery but he’s a candidate already for a clean up.”
Ocampo explained that the reason why they were holding the surgery up is it takes time for it to recover.
The lateral meniscus is described in Wikipedia as a fibro cartilaginous band that spans the lateral side of the interior of the knee joint. It is one of two menisci of the knee, the other being the medial meniscus. It is nearly circular and covers a larger portion of the articular surface than the medial.
