Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Greg Slaughter was rewarded for his great comeback from an ACL injury by winning his first Best Player of the Conference award while Meralco’s Allen Durham became the third man to capture back-to-back Bobby Parks Best Import honors last night before Game 2 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Slaughter compiled 975 points to beat Meralco’s Chris Newsome and San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo even as Durham was the runaway winner of the award given to the best foreign player of the season-ending conference over Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee and TNT KaTropa’s Glen Rice Jr.
The two players accepted their respective plaques from PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa, beaming pride over what they accomplished this conference. However, Slaughter and Durham are more interested in giving their respective teams the crown.
