Jerwin Ancajas is neck-deep in training for the third defense of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight title against heavy-handed challenger Jamie Conlan on Nov. 18 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Since the start of training, Ancajas has set up camp in Magallanes, Cavite, under the supervision of chief cornerman Joven Jimenez.
But during roadwork, Ancajas makes it a point to drive to neighboring Tagaytay City, said Jimenez, who will join Team Ancajas for the long flight to Belfast on Nov. 10.
However, Ancajas has been getting quality sparring sessions from Pete Panitente, Danuel Lim, Allan Alebrca and Jon Mark Alimane as he gets ready to risk the IBF 115-lb throne before hostile ground.
“Napakabigat na laban ito,” swears Ancajas, who beat Mcjoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico in Taguig for the IBF title.
