IF there’s someone special to actor Empoy Marquez these days, it’s none other God.
“Kung may special sa akin sa panahong ito, si God po ‘yun,” said Marquez, when asked if he has special someone these days, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS CBN.
Abunda reacted: “Ano naman po ang laban ko dun? Wala na akong follow-up question. Tinuldukan na ni Empoy.” Both the television host and the actor laughed.
When asked a hypothetical question on how the actor would accept a former girlfriend, Marquez said: “Sana dati pa. Bakit ngayon lang?”
Marquez admitted that he is surprised by the turnout of his fans following his blockbuster movie “Kita Kita” with Alessandra de Rossi.
“Nagulat din ako eh. Dati po apat lang. Ngayon hindi ko na mabilang po. Madalang na po ako mag-mall ngayon. ‘Yung mall na lang po pinapupunta ko sa bahay,” said Marquez, star of the newest movie “The Barker (Don’t Know What To Do).”
Marquez, 36, said that he wanted to be remembered as someone who makes people happy.
“Actually ang itsura ko po dati nung hindi pa ako nag-aartista, ganito po talaga. Pero hindi po ako nagpapasok, nagpapangit po ako. Ganun po ginawa ko. Ngayon nakalusot na ako kaya eto na po ako ngayon.
“Siguro ang gusto ko pong maaalala ako ng mga tao ay ‘yung pagiging ako po. Gwapo ka man o hindi, at least nakapagpasaya ka ng mga tao,” Marquez said.
Marquez also said that he has written a book entitled “Bakit Nakakakiliti ang Bigote?” which is a compilation of his personal anecdotes.
The stand-up comedian also clarified reports that he was rushed to the hospital because of serious illness.
“After ‘Kita Kita,’ three days or four days ko pong nararamdaman at na-schedule po ako sa MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Awa ni Lord negative naman ‘yung (result). Akala po kasi nila bell’s palsy. ‘Yun pala pagod lang or stress.
Kulang lang sa tulog. Ok na,” he said.
