Philippine swimming is in dire need of a lifeguard.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) secretary general Steve Hontiveros said yesterday that lawyer Charlie Ho and former International Olympic Committee representative to the Philippines Frank Elizalde have stepped down from their posts as members of a three-man panel tasked to handle the leadership crisis in the association.
With Ho and Elizalde out, the panel “was automatically disbanded,” said Hontiveros, who lamented the development as he was gearing towards a change in the Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI) leadership being presided over by Mark Joseph.
But Joseph, who has been absent the past two years, continues to run the affairs of the PSI with secretary general Lani Velasco as the point person.
“We cannot be doing this forever,” said a disgusted Hontiveros.
