A tropical cyclone with international name “Saola” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday afternoon and was given the local name “Quedan.”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of Quedan at 1,170 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes at around 4 p.m. yesterday, moving northwest at 21 kilometers per hour.
It continues to gain strength while at sea and is now packing maximum sustained winds of 80 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 95 kph.
PAGASA said the advanced clouds of the tropical cyclone will bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms over Bicol and the Visayas.
Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone will continue to affect Palawan and Mindanao, bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms to these areas.
