Games Tuesday (The Arena, San Juan City)
2 p.m. – Foton vs Iriga City
4:15 p.m. – UST vs Cocolife
7 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Sta. Lucia
Defending champion Foton continued its hot streak, needing just three sets to dump Generika-Ayala, 25-22, 25-22, 25-16 in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix yesterday at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City.
The Tornadoes were fiercest in the third frame where they broke away from a tight contest and raced to 16-8 lead courtesy of Serbian import Sara Klisura and never looked back.
Klisura fired 15 attacks and three aces to finish with 18 points for Foton, which clinched its third straight triumph in as many outings.
The win enabled the Tornadoes to temporarily tie Petron at the helm.
The Blaze Spikers were playing the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers at presstime.
Skipper Jaja Santiago, Maika Ortiz and Dragana Perunicic also stepped up for Foton with eight points apiece.
Generika-Ayala had its chances in the first two frames particularly in the second set where it kept the score close, but Foton came through with clutch plays.
The Tornadoes dominated all departments including in attacks, 36-32, blocks, 6-3, and service aces, 9-5, and took advantage of the Lifesavers’ 24 unforced errors.
The Lifesavers stumbled to their third defeat against a lone win to remain in the middle standings despite import Katarina Pilepic scoring 17 points.
