University of Santo Tomas produced a golden double but its men’s team had to share the title with Ateneo at the end of the UAAP judo competitions Sunday at the Sports Pavilion inside the De La Salle-Zobel campus in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa.
The Growling Tigers and the Blue Eagles became co-champions after posting identical 30 points in the two-day event.
UST had an easier time in ruling the women’s division for the fourth straight season with 45 points, 13 ahead of its closest pursuer University of the East.
Extra lightweight Daryl John Mercado and Sherwin De Rosa made a 1-2 finish for the Tigers, while half middleweight Renzo Cazeñas and heavyweight Dither Joshua Tablan won golds.
Also achieving podium finishes for UST were half middleweight Luis San Diego (silver), featherweight Russel Rhey Lorenzo (bronze), lightweight Jeunesse Nikole Ong (bronze), and half heavyweight George Kim (bronze).
