‘BUBBLE GANG’ UNVEILS MUSICAL PLAY: Few TV shows can run as long as 22 years on air. Thus far, we can only think of “Superstar,” the weekly musical-variety show hosted by Nora Aunor on now-defunct RPN-9 which ran for 22 years.
Now comes “Bubble Gang,” headlined by writer-comedian Michael V. which this month celebrates its 22nd year on air.
The Friday late-night gag show has changed hands over the years, leaving Michael as the last man standing. Aside from being its main star, Michael is also the show’s creative director.
He says he never runs out of material to gag about as he observes people, read or watch the news. “Bubble Gang” has a team of researchers, people who walk the streets, talk to ordinary people to find out what makes them tick, or what makes them laugh.
“What are their cheap thrills? We want to know them,” the durable comedian told a recent press conference.

The entire show will feature 10 songs by Parokya.
“We wanted to use more hits by the group, but they didn’t fit our storyline,” he said.

The “Bubble Gang” cast has been in rehearsal and preparation for this musical play the past three months. Like a regular theatrical presentation, they have gone through readings, rehearsals, dance lessons.
