Mercedes, Camarines Norte – Two of three siblings reported lost at sea here Wednesday, have been found dead by authorities.
Jude Hernandez of the Municipal Risk Reduction Management Office of Mercedes said the body of James Sierra, the youngest of the brood at 4, was recovered early morning yesterday near Brgy. San Roque.
Meanwhile, the cadaver of Jommel Sierra, 6 was found along the shores of Brgy. 6 in Mercedes town.
Yet to be accounted for is Jasmine Sierra, 9.
Hernandez said the three were swept away by strong waves while traversing the shallows off Mercedes with their father, Jerry Sierra, 45.
The older Sierra told police he and the children were walking towards the shore when they were engulfed by waves.
Charles de Leon, Mercedes police chief, believes Sierra could have been drunk at the time noting he and the children just came from a party prior.
He noted how the older Sierra can’t even recall the exact location where he lost his children.
