The Parañaque City government honored Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez with a plaque of recognition for winning the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 beauty pageant in Bolivia recently.
Marquez, who was warmly welcomed by local officials, was awarded a week after returning from Bolivia during yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony at the Parañaque City Hall.
She was accompanied by her mother, Alma Moreno, father Joey Marquez, and half-brother Vandolph Quizon.
Marquez thanked those who supported her when she competed in Bolivia.
A homecoming parade that went around Parañaque was held afterwards.
Marquez, in her homecoming press conference last Nov. 13, thanked Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, for helping her compete.
She said Olivarez enabled her aunt and brother to go to Bolivia and support her. “I’m very, very thankful for my mayor, he helped me talaga, he’s the one who sent my brother and my aunt to Bolivia, para merong dalawang Pinoy na papalakpak sakin, kasi sa totoo lang po sa unang presentation, silang dalawa lang talaga ang pumapalakpak sakin, imagine how hard it was for me when I was walking on stage and there were just two people clapping for me,” Marquez said.
“I’m just grateful for my brother, for my tita and to Mayor Edwin, dahil kahit papano may mga Pinoy na sumusuporta sa akin nung mga unang times doon,” she added. (Jean Fernando)
