Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate if sabotage has been taking place to disrupt the operations of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3).
Aguirre issued the order after a link of two MRT coaches detached last November 16 near the Buendia Station which forced passengers to walk on the tracks.
“Tuloy ‘yung angle ng sabotage for the NBI kasi mukhang meron basehan kasi sinasabi doon na mahirap mangyari ‘yung makakalas ‘yung dalawang coach,” he said.
“Makikita naman natin na kahit na-derail ang tren, kahit tumumba na ‘yan, magkakabit pa rin,” Aguirre pointed out.
“Kaya kung talagang walang human intervention, it’s really very hard mangyari ‘yun,” he added.
MRT 3 technicians who checked the detached coaches have already ruled out any electrical or mechanical problems.
“It’s impossible for the coupler to separate without human intervention,” MRT safety chief technician Ruel Jose said.
Technicians have also discovered that the Messma Card of the decoupled light rail vehicle (LRV) was missing.
The Messma Card functions like a black box that records all applied intervention. (Jeffrey G. Damicog)
