The San Beda College of Law and the First Scout Ranger Regiment of the Philippine Army have awarded President Duterte for his leadership and invaluable support to soldiers.
Duterte was named “Bedan of the Year” and was awarded a bust of himself for his exemplary national leadership at the San Beda Law Alumni Homecoming in Makati City.
The bust was conferred to Duterte by lawyers Avelino Cruz and Benedicto Malcontento, Justice Francisco Acosta, and San Beda Rector and President Rev. Fr. Alloysius Ma. Maranan.
Duterte encouraged his fellow alumni to “join hands with the Filipino nation in leading the way for change and progress.”
“As we move forward, may all of our achievements enable the college to remain as a great learning institution committed to its mission of providing excellent and quality education guided by the Benedictine principles of values and principles. Pati pag-mura,” said Duterte, a graduate of the San Beda College of Law in 1972, drawing laughter from the schoolmates.
Earlier, the FSRR, led by Brig. Gen. Rene Glen Paje, awarded the Chief Executive an Honorary Scout Ranger Badge during its 67th Founding Anniversary in Camp Tecson, Bulacan.
“For invaluable support extended to the First Scout Ranger Regiment, President Duterte on many occasions manifested great concern for the welfare of Scout Rangers and inspired its officers and men to their mission,” the citation read.
“As such, he is worthy of the respect and honor to be a member of the Scout Ranger family,” it added.
Duterte, who graced the event wearing the Scout Ranger uniform, enjoined the troops to continue to defend the country from threats such as terrorism and violent extremism.
“Our people depend on the military and the government to give them the stable, orderly, and prosperous nation that they desired for so long,” Duterte said.
Duterte awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu Medal with ranks of Kamagi and Kampilan to several officers and members of the FSRR during the event.
The Kamagi Medal is awarded to government officials and personnel, and even private individuals, who “actively participated in and contributed significantly to an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.”
The Kampilan Medal, on the other hand, is awarded to government officials and personnel, and even private individuals, who were seriously wounded or injured, or suffered great loss of property as a direct result of their participation in an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.
