Wounded soldiers confined at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center in Quezon City can now look forward to starting an alternate career as prosthetists with Vice President LeniRobredo offering them free prosthetics training at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMC).
“It will be a livelihood opportunity for soldiers who will not be able to return to service,” she said during a recent visit at V. Luna Medical Center.
The Vice President said the offer is part of her Angat Buhay campaign.
“We have many countrymen in need of prosthetics. But only a few know how to make them,” the 52-year-old former housing chief said.
Robredo’s Angat Buhay has been providing prosthetic legs and arms to Filipinos with disabilities.
The Vice President said it is her way of thanking the soldiers for their services.
“I think all Filipinos should take the opportunity to thank the soldiers who are our heroes. We need to give time for them because it is an honor,” she said.
