The Armed Forces of the Philippines has said that 264 New People’s Army rebels were either killed or apprehended by government forces since peace talks were cancelled last Feb. 4.
In a statement, AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Marine Col. Edgard Arevalo said 573 NPA rebels also voluntarily surrendered to government forces since the cancellation of peace talks. Arevalo said 622 firearms were seized from them.
Arevalo said the AFP was able to neutralize 119 NPA last month. Twenty-one were killed in operations, 29 were apprehended, and 69 voluntarily surrendered while 62 high-powered and low-powered firearms were seized from them.
