Asian Games chief of mission Julian Camacho packed a baggage stuffed with bad news after attending the CDM meeting in Jakarta recently.
“The traffic is horrible,” said Camacho, narrating a nightmarish three-hour ride for a mere four-kilometer distance in downtown Jakarta. “It’s worse than Manila.”
“I am not sure how they’ll be able to solve it although I was told that they’re going to put up Asian Games lanes so delegates, athletes and officials can use it going to their hotels and competition venues,” said Camacho.
Even the infrastructure is not complete with nine months remaining before the quadrennial sportsfest starts on Aug. 18 until Sept. 2.
Jakarta is the main hub while Palembang will also play host to about a dozen sports. (Nick Giongco)
