BUTUAN CITY – Two policemen abducted by the New People’s Army in Placer, Surigao del Norte were freed after 37 days in captivity yesterday in Sitio Tiltilan, Barangay Mahanob, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte.
Chief Supt. Noli A. Romana, director of Philippine National Police Regional Office 13, identified the two policemen as PO2 Jhon Paul M. Doverte and PO2 Alfredo L. Degamon Jr., both assigned to the Placer police station.
The two policemen were released by the custodial force of the Guerilla Front Committee 16 to the third party facilitator organized by the provincial and municipal crisis management committees.
“Thank God that we are safe now. Thank you to all those who helped in our safe release,” Degamon said. (Mike U. Crismundo)
