Don’t count Nora Aunor off the movie circle this year. The superstar has got better plans ahead. She says show business is her life, one that she can’t afford to leave behind.
Over the phone, Nora revealed what she is up to in 2018 when I texted her on the New Year. She said the buzz is true that the court favors the case she filed against a relative form allegedly grabbing her family’s hectares of land in Bicol.
She texted, “Opo Pit, totoo po ‘yon. Kaya maibabalik po sa akin lahat ng naibenta ng cousin ko po.’’
The vast piece of land was bought for Nora by her mother Mamay Tunying at the peak of her phenomenal reign as the one and only Superstar of Philippine movies.
Nora also apologized to her fans for a lackluster career in 2017 and for some promises she failed to keep last year. According to her, she has better plans this year.
She didn’t say, however
If she was referring to her long-overdue throat operation in the U.S. or the much bruited-about movie she would do with her archrival Vilma Santos under Star Cinema.
This New Year, Ate Guy wishes all her loyal fans: “We must thank God for another year that had just passed. May you have the best of the coming year with your family, and a happy and prosperous New Year to all. I love you very much!”
By the way, Ate Guy is happy for her anak-anakan Edgar Allan de Guzman’s win as Best Supporting Actor at MMFF for his natural comic portrayal of a flamboyant gay in Deadma Walking. If she finds time, she will watch the much-talked-about “Deadma Walking” of EA de Guzman and “Larawan” of Joana Ampil.
