No tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country this weekend but cloudy skies with scattered rains caused by the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will prevail in extreme Northern Luzon today, the State weather bureau said yesterday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, andf Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Chris Perez said that cloudy skies with scattered rains are expected in Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains will prevail over Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Aurora.
Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers from localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned residents of these areas that flashfloods or landslides are possible due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao, while light to moderate winds from east to northeast over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
