Undersecretary Eduardo Año yesterday vowed to make the Department of Interior and Local Government an honest and diligent agency following his appointment as officer-in-charge.
“It is my strong desire to implement changes in order to realize the President’s programs in improving the life of every Filipino,” said Año.
“I enjoin all members of Team DILG to perform their tasks honestly and diligently towards improving the quality of the services to attain DILG’s programs for the good of our country and our countrymen,” he added.
Año replaced Undersecretary Catalino Cuy as DILG OIC. Cuy was appointed as the new head of the Dangerous Drugs Board.
Año, former Armed Forces chief of staff, and Cuy, a retired police general, are products of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1983 and 1982, respectively.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Año is a good choice for the DILG and cited his working relationship with him when he was Armed Forces chief.
“I congratulate Ed Año on his designation as OIC DILG. I am sure that with his dedication to duty, professionalism, and experience in the military he will succeed as the head of DILG,” said Lorenzana.
Lorenzana said he and Año will have a good working relationship.
