Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairperson Jose Jorge E. Corpuz has quit his post due to health reasons after serving more than year in office, Malacañang announced yesterday.
“This is to announce that Mr. Jose Jorge Elizalde Corpuz has resigned as Chairman and Member, Board of Directors, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office due to health reasons,” presidential spokesman Harry Roque said.
Roque dispelled speculations that Corpuz was the latest government official to be sacked by President Duterte for corruption. “Mr. Corpuz, for the information of everyone, is not the person whom the President said he will fire for corruption,” he said.
The President earlier announced he would fire another chairman of a government entity this week as part of the anti-corruption purge. Three generals and 40 to 70 policemen will also face dismissal for corruption, according to the President.
