Mapua and Lyceum try to barge into the win column today when they square off in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Match is at 11 a.m. with both teams determined to nail their first win after dropping their first two games to start the season.
The Lady Cardinals are hoping their weeklong respite will be enough for them to regain their confidence after losing to the Arellano Lady Chiefs and the Letran Lady Knights in straight sets.
The Lady Pirates are likewise aiming the same since another defeat will certainly hurt their campaign after losses to the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas and the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.
They were a set away from securing their first win the last time out but they unexpectedly lost their momentum in the third and eventually the match.
And that’s why they’re working hard during training sessions to be more consistent.
Lyceum’s veteran coach Emil Lontoc is banking on Bien Juanillo and Monica Sevilla to lead them to their first win.
Also expected to play key role is setter Cherry Genova who needs to be more creative is she wants to help her team.
Meanwhile, San Sebastian and University of Perpetual Help aim to untangle themselves from the middle standings when they battle at 12:30 p.m.
Both squads carry similar 1-1 win-loss marks.
