Top triathletes of years past are set to be given due recognition when the SwimBikeRun.ph brings back its SBR Awards Night on Feb. 10 at the Events Center of Century City Mall in Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City.
“We’re going to recognize the best of the best since our goal is to make household names in the sport,” SBR.ph founder Carlos de Guzman said yesterday during the event’s media briefing.
“In basketball, most Filipinos can name at least top three players in the PBA in just five seconds. But in triathlon, even the top performers have yet to be known by an average sports fan.”
The Elite Triathlete of the Year, Duathlete, Age Group Triathlete, and the Youth Triathlete, both from the men’s and women’s divisions, are among the top awards that will be given.
A two-day SBR Expo, a retailers’ event where items all geared to the needs of a triathlete, will also be held starting on the Awards Night proper itself.
