College of St. Benilde still showed its championship experience as it shocked streaking defending champion Arellano University, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-12, yesterday to bolster its Final Four hopes in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The win, which improved the Lady Blazers to 4-3, propelled them to joint fourth with the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers while dealing the Lady Chiefs’ their first loss in the season after a seven-game winning run.
St. Benilde, likewise, snapped Arellano’s remarkable 19-game winning streak since last season.
Despite the defeat, Arellano still clinched the first Final Four slot with only one game left in the eliminations against San Sebastian on Thursday.
Earlier, Letran arrested a two-game skid as it outhustled Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12.
