The Philippine government has confirmed that the body found in a freezer in a vacant apartment in Kuwait earlier this week was that of a Filipina.
According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, a dioxyribonucleic acid test identified the body as that of Joanna Daniela Dimapilis.
Meanwhile, lawyer Raul Dado, former director of the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Migrant Workers Affairs, disclosed that the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has sent a note verbale to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm the identity of the deceased.
Dado further revealed that the embassy has also met Kuwaiti police and forensics and that legal action may follow.
Arab Times reported that the body is believed to have been kept inside the freezer for more than a year.
