7 p.m. – Bataan vs Imus
9 p.m. – Quezon City vs Muntinlupa
Quezon City guns for the solo lead while host Muntinlupa aims to continue its winning ways as they duke it out tonight in the resumption of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta Rajah Cup action at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
Currently in a tie with the idle Batangas City Athletics atop the field with similar 4-0 records, the Capitals are eager to sustain their flawless start in their 9 p.m. showdown with the Cagers, who are determined to stretch their own win-run to four matches.
That’s enough for Quezon City coach Vis Valencia to be wary enough of the dangerous Muntinlupa side aiming to draw added strength from an expected big homecrowd.
“This will be another tough test for us,” he said. “It’s (Muntinlupa) a different team now. They’re starting to play better while gaining more confidence moving forward. On our part, we just have to stay consistent on what we’re doing.”
Clashing in the opener at 7 p.m. are Bataan and Imus City, with the winner finally breaking the ice halfway through the single round of eliminations.
The Defenders are hoping to get a usual offensive explosion from former pro star Gary David, who was held down to just 10 points in the team’s 76-69 loss to the Caloocan Supremos at the own floor at the People’s Center in Balanga City last Tuesday.
Also raring to clinch what seems to be an elusive win are the Bandera, who gave Valenzuela Classic all they could handle but suffered a monumental collapse in the stretch that led to a painful 81-77 setback last Thursday night.
