Games Today
(The Arena, San Juan City)
2 p.m. – UE vs FEU
4 p.m. – Adamson vs La Salle
Two-time defending champion La Salle looks to pile up more misery on struggling Adamson today in the resumption of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Game is at 4 p.m., with the Lady Spikers out to pick up from where they left off following a morale-boosting straight-sets victory over University of the East last Wednesday as they try keep their hold of the second spot.
La Salle should come in as favorites over Adamson, which has dropped its last two matches, including a painful five-set loss to Ateneo three days ago, that left American coach Airess Padda disappointed with the Lady Falcons’ sluggish form.
“We haven’t found something that’s consistently working for our team yet,” she rued, as the Lady Falcons try to survive what is billed as their killer stretch that started with a shocking straight-sets loss to University of Santo Tomas last weekend.
“I feel like sometimes they don’t know how to handle success. They don’t know how to create momentum off of their success. It’s like we had our two wins and when we got thrown into the UST match, as soon as we experienced an inconsistent play, or doubt, we just crumbled.”
Clashing in the 2 p.m. are host Far Eastern University and UE, with the Lady Tamaraws determined to tie the idle Lady Eagles at third spot and the Lady Warriors aching to end a five-game barren spell.
FEU is coming off a solid three-set sweep of University of the Philippines exactly a week ago and skipper Bernadeth Pons is hoping that she and the rest of the Lady Tamaraws can build on from that.
