The illegal drugs trade continues to grow and destroy the country, President Duterte warned last Saturday, as he renewed his resolve to combat the menace.
The President maintained that government efforts against the narcotics trade would be pursued without letup.
“I will deal with drugs because it is growing and they are destroying my country. Ginagawa ko kaya nagkakaso-kaso ngayon,” Duterte said before the convention of the Petron Dealers Association in Davao City.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to combat corruption, which, he said, was pulling down the country. “I will deal with corruption. So I am fulfilling No. 1, ginagawa ko na,” he said.
Duterte vowed to keep an equilibrium amid efforts to bring peace and development in Mindanao. He said his government was committed to improve law and order in the country by “talking to the enemies of the state.”
“I’m trying to maintain an equilibrium here in Mindanao between the varying forces arrayed against the government,” he said. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
