(MABA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur)
2:30 p.m. – Malaysia vs Alab Pilipinas
San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas tries to make it nine in a row and maintain its hold of the top spot against the Westports Malaysia Dragons today in the ASEAN Basketball League at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Seeing action for the first time in two weeks, Alab hopes to shrug off rust and keep its winning ways in the 2:30 p.m. contest with the host Dragons, a team desperate to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive.
Alab, which carries an 11-4 record to trail defending champion Hong Kong Eastern (11-2) for the lead, actually climbed into the top two spot without breaking a sweat after Chong Son Kung Fu fell 105-92 to Thailand’s Mono Vampire last Wednesday in Bangkok.
Mono moved to third at 12-5 while Chong Son dropped to fourth place with a 9-4 record. The top two after the elims gain outright semifinal berths while the remaining four playoff teams play a best-of-three quarterfinal series.
Imports Renaldo Balkman and Justin Brownlee will once again play the lead roles in Alab’s quest for another victory.
