OROQUIETA, Misamis Occidental – Dipolog City’s Leano Vince Dalman topped the boys 12-and-under 100-meter butterfly stroke event on Thursday, emerging as the first triple gold medalist in the Batang Pinoy Games Mindanao regional qualifiers here.
Continuing his winning form after wins in the 100-meter individual medley and 50-meter backstroke on Wednesday, Dalman posted one minutes and 13.50 seconds to remain perfect in his events.
Bukidnon’s Anton Rafaele Malayang (1:22.10) and Tawi-Tawi’s Rajul Mustaman (1:24.19) took the silver and bronze, respectively, at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletics Complex pool.
“Masaya po ako kasi hindi po ako nanalo sa Tagum noong nakaraan,” said the Grade 6 Dipolog Pilot Elementary School student, who washed out in the 2016 Batang Pinoy Nationals held in Tagum, Davao del Norte.
Dalman will also compete in the 100-meter backstroke and 50-meter butterfly events today in the meet hosted by the Misamis Occidental provincial government led by Gov. Herminia Ramiro.
Other achievers were Zamboanga City archer John Ross de Sosa and athletic bets Febie Joy Mancera and Hazel Arellano, who a picked up their second golds in the grassroots sports showcase organized by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Competing at the Aloran Elemenary School on the outskirts of the provincial capital, De Sosa topscored with 326 points to rule the boys 60-meter event, adding his second mint to his collection after topping the 30-meter distance (317) the other day.
