Malacañang has extended its sympathies to the families of the victims of a hotel fire in Manila and airplane crash in Bulacan.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque observed a moment of silence for the victims of the two “unfortunate tragedies” at the start of his press conference in Camarines Sur yesterday.
“We deeply mourn the loss of lives caused by fire at the Manila Pavilion and plane crash in Bulacan. Our sympathies go to the victims, to their families, and friends,” Roque said.
“Please join me in a moment of silence as we offer a prayer for the victims of these unfortunate tragedies,” he added.
Five persons were killed while several others were injured in the blaze that hit the Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino in Manila last Sunday. President Duterte made an aerial inspect of the burning hotel after attending the Philippine Military Academy graduation ceremony in Baguio City. The fire was declared under control yesterday morning.
A small airplane crashed into a residential area in Plaridel, Bulacan last Saturday, killing 10 people. The six-seat plane was bound for Batanes when it reportedly hit a power line and plunged into a house.
The two incidents are currently being investigated by authorities.
