Summer or dry season is officially here.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has declared the official onset of dry season on Tuesday, with the termination of the northeast monsoon or amihan season in the country.
PAGASA said it has recorded a gradual increase in daily temperature in most parts of the country in the past few days.
Likewise, it noted that weather chart and numerical model output analyses indicate the weakening of high pressure area (HPA) coming from Siberia and the establishment of the northwestern HPA during the week.
“These changes in the weather system with accompanying shift of wind pattern from northeasterly to easterly signify the termination of the northeast monsoon,” PAGASA said.
With this development, the weather bureau advised the public to expect the day-to-day weather to become warmer and drier in most parts of the country due to the dominance of the ridge of HPA and easterlies.
This would also signify the start of dry season.
However, PAGASA said some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may also be expected mostly in the afternoon or evening.
“The general public is advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and take note of the need in optimizing the daily use of water for personal and domestic consumption,” it pointed out.
