ILOCOS SUR – National Capital Region outlasted Calabarzon, 91-81, yesterday to move one win away from retaining its title in the secondary boys basketball of the 2018 Palarong Pambansa here.
Carl Tamayo, a member of the “23 for 23” World Cup pool of the national basketball team, sizzled with 23 points for the National University-backed Metro Manila dribblers.
The win was the fifth straight for the Goldwin Monteverde-mentored NCR squad.
The Big City cagers will face the Davao Region squad in the final today at the San Juan Municipal gym here.
The Davao squad secured the other final berth by stunning last year’s finalist Western Visayas, 85-80.
