GENERAL SANTOS CITY- Police arrested on Tuesday three Indonesian nationals after they were caught smuggling some P5 million worth of imported cigarettes into the country.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, regional police chief, identified the suspects as Sugunop Bentelu, 52; Ares Bentelu, 26; and Rafles Pangutesang, 45.
The trio was nabbed Tuesday evening while trying to unload the contraband in the shores of Barangay Labangal here.
In relation to the arrest, police have launched a manhunt against one Malik Toto, the alleged recipient of the contraband.
Morales said the Indonesians were already arrested a couple of weeks ago trying to smuggle into the country some P600,000 worth of imported cigarettes but they were released from detention after posting the bail.
Morales said this time, they will ask the court to deny the suspects bail. (Joseph Jubelag)
