GUMACA, Quezon – Another pack of suspected cocaine weighing an estimated 39.25 grams was found Thursday in the waters off Plaridel here.
Police said the package was turned over to them by a fisherman identified as Rogelio Olveda, 54, as accompanied by Elenita Lomenario, chief of Barangay Calumanguin and kagawad Edwin Abad.
Investigation showed Olveda found the package floating at sea. He initially threw it away due to what he described as its foul odor.
When village officials learned about it, they sought Olveda who promptly retrieved the package and surrendered it to authorities.
Only days ago, fishermen surrendered to authorities a package they found off the waters of Camarines Norte later confirmed as cocaine.
Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police provincial director, said the find weighed 35.1 kilos.
