The Philippine Azkals will get to know their opponents for the AFF Suzuki Cup and Asian Cup with a pair of draw ceremonies slated this week.
The draw for the Suzuki Cup, Southeast Asia’s biggest football competition, is set Wednesday in Jakarta, Indonesia while the proceedings for the Asian Cup will be held two days later in Dubai.
Scheduled Nov. 8 to Dec. 15, the Suzuki Cup features a home-and-away format for the first time. Under the new setup, the Azkals will host two home matches and play two away games in the group stage.
Two groups of five ASEAN countries comprise the Suzuki Cup which has Thailand as the defending two-time champion. Each of the top two teams qualify for the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the Asian Cup begins on Jan. 5 in the United Arab Emirates, with the Philippines making its debut. (Jonas Terrado)
