LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Authorities uprooted and burned a total of 860,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth R17.4 million in Tinglayan, Kalinga over the weekend.
Cordillera police said the produce were from 15 discreet farms located in Barangays Buscalan and Loccong. All were cut, collected and burned on site, with only a handful preserved as evidence.
Authorities said they will not stop until they destroy all of the existing marijuana plantations in the area, noting how it has become a source of livelihood for some farmers there.
