There is no vacuum in the country’s relations with Kuwait despite the expulsion of the Philippine ambassador Renato Villa over the controversial rescue of distressed Filipino workers, Malacañang assured Monday.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the country’s relations with Kuwait would continue as the country’s chargé d’affaires is expected to take the place of Villa at the Philippine embassy in the Gulf state for the meantime.
“Wala pong vacuum doon, meron po tayong chargé d’affaires doon,” Roque said during a Palace press briefing.
“We don’t have an ambassador but there is a chargé d’affaires, there is diplomatic mission. Diplomatic ties remain which means that we have a mission there to protect our nationals,” he added.
