More than the coveted crown, pride and glory are also on the line for defending champion F2 Logistics and powerhouse Petron in their best-of-three Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix titular showdown.
As things stand right now, the Blaze Spikers have an inside track to join Foton Tornadoes as two-time titleholders of the import-laced tourney owing to a come-from-behind 23-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-9 win in the series opener last Tuesday.
Petron, with American Alaina Bergsma and Brazilian Erica Adachi serving as its reinforcements, went all the way back in 2015 and nearly duplicated the feat last year, only to squander a 1-0 finals series lead against F2 Logistics.
“We don’t want to happen what happened in the past,” said Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos, adding that there’s no other way but to complete its redemption bid against the same Cargo Movers unit in which is billed as the toughest and most competitive tourney in Philippine volleyball.
